Parties
Download a star chart for Santa Barbara tonight! Every month, the Museum offers public observations at the Museum's Palmer Observatory. These Star Parties are hosted by members of the Santa Barbara Astronomical Unit, who provide telescopes and their expert knowledge of the night sky. Next Star Party: December is always a fun time to view the skies. Come join us for some holiday-feeling Star Party. We will able to watch the entire royal family with Cassiopeia, Cepheus and Andromeda as well as the approaching Andromeda Galaxy! Mighty Orion, with Betelgeuse and Rigel, will now be fully visible as well as Taurus. It will also be a great time for viewing nebulas! The Orion and the Crab Nebula, similar names but so different in composition. And we musn’t forget the Pleiades riding on the back of Taurus. In addition, we’ll be viewing double stars, galaxies and more. We'll also provide hands-on demonstrations, make-and-take crafts, and astronomy experts to answer your questions. And don't miss our Evening Exclusives in the planetarium that night! Admission: Members FREE; non-members $2.00/adult, $1.00/child |
